A superbloom is happening at Weir Canyon Wilderness Park! Follow barefoot Joel to identify a diversity of native wildflowers, including poppy, lupine, mariposa lily, pincushion, chia and other unique bloomers along a sun exposed ridge through fragrant sage scrub. Get stunning macro and wide shots of the rich tapestry of shapes, colors and textures. Learn botany, plant identification and foraging skills. Treat it like a scavenger hunt and collect species on your phone using the iNaturalist app. Stop frequently to cultivate a meaningful relationship with the plants and wildlife. EASY TO MODERATE, depending on level of experience. 3-4 miles round-trip. Optional loop. 350 feet of elevation gain. Full sun exposure. Carry plenty of water and food to enjoy along the way.
